Judy's Calendars

I've been to Africa four times, but these pictures are from my January 2006 trip except one: My "Cheetah in Tree." It's such a great shot that I had to include it.

As in all my calendars, I can start the month anywhere, plus I've already added some of the "traditional" holidays, but if you want other ones and if I can get the proper dates, I'd be glad to add them as well. If you have any questions at all, just let me know.

The "Flowers" calendar has 12 months (some of my calendars have 13 months.) As with my other calendars, you may begin with any month and any year - it does not have to start with January. Thank you.

A very good friend of mine asked if I wanted to go to Iceland. "They have Puffins," she said. Well...if there are Puffins anywhere, I'm going! So, we went, and it was a great trip.

Even though a number of these birds can be found in other parts of the world, all of the birds in this 12-month calendar were photographed in Iceland within a 2-week period.

Wood Ducks are my absolute favorite of all ducks because, in my opinion, they are the most beautiful.

This is a 12-month calendar - and - like all my others, you can begin with any month and any year.

These pictures are a combination of two families: One Wood Duck mother had six babies and another had 2 babies. There was even a mother who had 1 baby although she and her baby are not included in this calendar. I'm assuming that the smaller families were wiped out by Snapping Turtles: They grab the Wood Duck babies by their feet and pull them under - a really sad thing...

Ahhh...Puffins! I absolutely LOVE Puffins - the "clowns of the sea." They are a pelagic bird which means they live on the sea and only come to land when they breed and have their babies. When it comes time for the babies to fledge (leave the nest), they do it in the middle of the night. They are not shy nor afraid of people. I don't really know why they're not afraid of man because they are (or at least were) part of the diets in the Scandinavian countries. In Scotland, you can get close to them and their nests. One of these days I'm going to go back to Scotland and photograph them again - it's just the most magical place ever!
