I first went to Ottawa to photograph Snowies but the weather wasn't good - not much snow and not many birds. So...I headed off for Quebec. I got some shots and, hopefully, will get to do it again in the not-too-distant future.

"Birds and Mammals of Japan - No. 1"

I went to Japan in February 2007 and was specifically interested in the Japanese Cranes - however - I was glad to photograph the other wildlife as well. The Stellar Sea Eagles are really something as is the White-tailed Eagle and the Black Kite. The weather for the Snow Monkeys was lousy - it was muddy and very little snow.

Again, it was a great trip with the "Brits," (I DO love the Brits!!!!) and I wouldn't mind going again; however, the trip over and back is quite tiring and the airlines certainly aren't making it easy for us photographers.

"Polar Bears of Svalbard Norway - No. 1"

I went to Svalbard in September 2009 to photograph Polar Bears. Some were skeptical that we'd see any bears at all. Well...we got lucky: we found a Narwhal carcass with about 11 bears in the area. We also found different groups of Walruses (or would that be Walri???). We also saw fox and various seabirds. I was a bit hesitant going at first. I don't get seasick (I think I was a sailor in my "other life" but I was a bit worried about "BIG" seas. Movies like the "Perfect Storm" scared the you-know-what out of me, but I knew that if I wanted Polar Bears, I was going to have the bite the bullet and go on a ship, out into the freezing ocean into the Arctic Circle and hope for the best. As it turned out: No big seas (although a number of people were seasick - but - not I!) It was really a fabulous and absolutely fun trip!

"Polar Bears of Svalbard Norway - No. 2"

This calendar is a continuation of No. 1. I'm hoping to get a No. 3 up soon as well. All the pictures were taken from this one trip in September 2009.

Some may ask: What is "Svalbard" - I'd never heard of such a place. Well, Svalbard is an archipelago in the Arctic Ocean north of mainland Europe, about midway between mainland Norway and the North Pole. It consists of a group of islands ranging from 74° to 81° north latitude, and from 10° to 35° east longitude. The archipelago is the northernmost part of Norway. Three islands are populated: Spitsbergen, Bear Island and Hopen. The largest settlement is Longyearbyen. The Spitsbergen Treaty (1920) recognized Norwegian sovereignty over Svalbard, and the 1925 Svalbard Act made Svalbard a full part of the Kingdom of Norway. The official language in Svalbard is Norwegian, though some areas do speak Russian.

"Sandhill Cranes of Bosque del Apache NM - No. 1"

I've been to Bosque del Apache to photograph Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese four times now - and I'm sure I'll go at LEAST four times more and then some. It's a fantastic place to see these birds. This year (2009), however, there weren't the numbers of birds as has been in the past. From what we heard, the low numbers had to do with a bad crop of corn. In some respects, not as many birds to photograph, it made it easier to isolate one or two - but - it's always exciting to see thousands upon thousands of birds taking off all at once. This first calendar are images from my first trip. The second and third calendars are from my trip this year.

"Sandhill Cranes of Bosque del Apache NM - No. 2"

If you want to photograph these birds in New Mexico, you do NOT need to go on a photo tour. It's an absolute waste of money because you can do it on your own. When you get there, you'll see all the photographers lined up in a row taking their shots. If you want information, you can ask questions - most will give you good information about where, when and how...or...you can email me, and I can give you info. It's a relatively cheap trip - motels and food. I don't fly - I drive. I like the ability to load the car up with every piece of equipment I own (and then some) when I leave home. One can never take too much equipment on a photo trip...

"Siberian Tigers in Black and White"

Almost all of these Tiger pictures were taken on the same day. There was a mom with triplets. The morning I woke up, it was snowing like a fare thee well, and I said to myself, "Judith, you NEED to go to the zoo today!" Well...I listened - and - I went. It was absolutely fantastic! The cubs were 9-months old and this was their very first snowfall! I was the only person at the zoo that day, and it was absolutely glorious! It normally takes me 20 minutes to get home from the zoo - that day it took me over 2 hours, but it was worth every minute.
This is a 12-month calendar, but you may start the months whenever you'd like. An example would be June 2009 - May 2010. All calendars are on 8-1/2 x 11 photo paper.

"Dragonflies No. 1"

All of my Dragonflies were photographed in either a local field or my yard. I never realized how many different varieties and how beautiful they were until I started seeing them through my Canon 180 macro lens. They are very difficult to identify and some may not be I.D.'d correctly - especially the smaller ones - but I find I'm really more interested in viewing the little creatures than I am in naming them. I've bought some Dragonfly identification books, but I find they really aren't much help. I've only been photographing them with diligence for the past two summers and look forward to this summer to see what else I can find.

"Wood Ducks"

Wood Ducks are my absolute favorite of all ducks because, in my opinion, they are the most beautiful.

This is a 12-month calendar - and - like all my others, you can begin with any month and any year.

These pictures are a combination of two families: One Wood Duck mother had six babies and another had 2 babies. There was even a mother who had 1 baby although she and her baby are not included in this calendar. I'm assuming that the smaller families were wiped out by Snapping Turtles: They grab the Wood Duck babies by their feet and pull them under - a really sad thing...

It would take about 2 weeks for delivery. If you need additional information, please let me know. Thank you.
